
The Emergency Medical Dispatching Course is a 32 hour comprehensive training program that prepares individuals to effectively respond to emergency calls and dispatch appropriate medical assistance. Following the guidelines set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this course covers essential topics in emergency dispatch protocols, call assessment, communication techniques, technology integration, legal and ethical considerations, and practical exercises. Participants will learn how to assess emergency calls, prioritize responses, and utilize standardized dispatch protocols. Effective communication skills, including active listening, clear instructions, and effective questioning techniques, will be emphasized to ensure accurate information gathering and provision of pre-arrival instructions. Hands-on experience with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, mapping software, and radio communication equipment will be provided. The course also addresses legal and ethical responsibilities in emergency dispatching, confidentiality, cultural sensitivity, and stress management. Practical exercises and simulations will allow participants to apply their knowledge and enhance decision-making skills. By the end of the course, participants will possess the necessary competencies to handle emergency calls, prioritize responses, and provide essential instructions, contributing to the improvement of emergency response systems and ensuring public safety.

This is companion coursework is specially designed for the EMT Class which is used to assist the student in completing requirements. Students will be given their assignments by the instructor and will be required to bring them in on the dates indicated by the syllabus.

Description: This 16 Hour, Tactical Emergency Combat Care (TECC) class meets National Standards Guidelines for instruction on how to respond to respond and care for people during civilian and tactical rescue operations and is adopted from the Committee on Tactical Emergency Combat Care (C-TECC) Guidelines.
This course is recommended for Civilian First Care Providers, ALS/BLS Responders, Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) as well as other interested members of the community.
Additionally, this course counts towards National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) continuing education hours to recertify as an EMT and is approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).

This 24 Hour (3-Day), NREMT compliant, Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) accredited course follows National Standard Curriculum for the Emergency Medical Technician Refresher. Students who successfully pass the course, will be issued certification identifying the number of hours obtained for training for the use of re-registration as an EMT under the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as well as EMT recertification through continuing education hours for California.
