The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician course prepares the AEMT student to provide prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of AEMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the prehospital setting and providing patient transportation.

This course follows the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Standard Curriculum for Paramedic Refresher. Students who successfully pass the course, will be presented with a certificate outlining the applicable topic areas. The course refreshes the paramedic with an understanding of providing prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of paramedics, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the prehospital setting, and providing patient transportation. 

Students registering for this course certify that they meet the following technical requirements

VILT-CE cannot be used for verification of skills competency. Skills competency demonstration, practice and verification must be instructor-led in a face-to-face environment.

This is companion homework to the EMT Class which is used to assist the student in completing EMT course requirements. Students will be given their assignments by the instructor and will be required to bring them in on the dates indicated by the syllabus.

Description: This 24 Hour, NREMT Refresher class is completed through the use of Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) and meets National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) guidelines to recertify as an EMT.

Description: This 24 hour course includes topics identified by the NREMT, necessary to recertify under Section II of the NREMT recertification brochure. This course is approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). Students who successfully pass the course, will be presented with a certificate outlining the applicable topic areas. Description: This course details the Patient Assessment section of topics for which the EMT is responsible for knowing. Patient assessment is perhaps the most important part of being a good EMT. Without good patient assessment skills, which encompass communications, documentation, examination techniques, etc... the EMT is largely ineffectual. The primary design of this course is to improve the EMTs patient assessment skills. This course will help the EMT better understand and review topics related to these skills. Description: This course details Advanced Life Support (ALS) Assist for the EMT. It is important that the EMT have a good working knowledge of what to expect from working with a Paramedic partner. Students who successfully pass the course, will be issued certification identifying the number of hours obtained for training for the use of re-registration as an EMT under the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. The course is good for 24 CE hours towards TDSHS EMSTS recertification.

This 24 Hour (3-Day), NREMT compliant, Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) accredited course is also certified through the California and San Diego County EMS Authority and follows the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Technician Refresher. Students are trained according to the standards outlined above. Students who successfully pass the course, will be issued certification identifying the number of hours obtained for training for the use of re-registration as an EMT under the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as well as EMT recertification through continuing education hours for both California and San Diego County.

This 24 Hour (3-Day), NREMT compliant, Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) accredited course is also certified through the California and San Diego County EMS Authority and follows the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Technician Refresher. Students are trained according to the standards outlined above. Students who successfully pass the course, will be issued certification identifying the number of hours obtained for training for the use of re-registration as an EMT under the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as well as EMT recertification through continuing education hours for the State of Arizona.
This 16 Hour CPR, First Aid, BLS, and Bloodborne Pathogens instructor course is designed for the entry level Instructor prior to formal instruction of a BLS (Basic Life Support Program). This course is based on the 2002 National Guidelines For Educating EMS Instructors, which is a consortium of guidelines from the National Association of EMS Educators, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Successful completion of this course shall entitle the student to CPR/BLS Instructor certification. 

NOTE: THIS COURSE WILL NOT ENABLE YOU TO TEACH FOR EMS UNIVERSITY AS A CPR INSTRUCTOR.

This 40 Hour EMS Instructional Strategies course is designed for the entry level EMS Instructor prior to formal instruction in an Emergency Medical Services educational program. This course is based on the 2002 National Guidelines For Educating EMS Instructors, which is a consortium of guidelines from the National Association of EMS Educators, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Successful completion of this course shall entitle the student to EMS Instructor certification.
