The Wizard Education Paramedic Program at EMS University is a 10 month, high performance program designed for the EMT who is looking to further their career in EMS by attending the finest school possible.   Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are eligible to seek national certification as Paramedics through the National Registry of EMTs and Arizona State Paramedic certification through the Arizona Department of Health Services.

This program is divided in 3 trimesters:

Trimester 1 includes:

  • Preparatory, Airway and Assessment didactic modules
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Emergency Pharmacology
  • Airway and IV skills labs
  • Online web support
  • I-pad for testing and course work

Trimester 2 includes:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Cadaver lab
  • ACLS Skills labs
  • Hospital Clinical Rotations
    • There are contracts with the Banner Hospitals, Maricopa Medical Center and Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, plus other hospitals throughout Arizona.

Trimester 3 includes:

  • Pathophysiology
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • International Trauma Life Support
  • Advanced Medical Life Support
  • Skills labs – NREMT Practice
  • Field Internship
    • Field internship agreements are in place with many Fire Departments and EMS agencies around Arizona if you do not have an agency that can sponsor your field internship.

Total Course Hours:

  • Didactic/Practical Lab 640 hours
  • Hospital Clinical rotations 168 hours (minimum)
  • Field Internship 500 hours (minimum)



Course Prerequisites:

  • Current Arizona State EMT (or NREMT) certification
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR card
  • Proof of 9th grade reading level
  • Clear background check (upon acceptance into program)
  • Negative 5 panel drug screen (upon acceptance into program)
  • MMR Immunization/Immunity (upon acceptance into program)
  • Proof of current (within 6 months) TB testing (upon acceptance into program)
  • Proof of Health Insurance (upon acceptance into program)

Acceptance into the Paramedic Program requires successful completion of an EMT written exam, EMT practical skills exam and an oral interview.
